Hello,

Thanks for taking a look at this first of all, appreciated.

I'm installing a 'HEKTAR lamp' from IKEA.

I thought it would be a simple process, I've done a few light fittings in the past but I'm no expert at all.

There was a basic white plastic pendant light fitting there previously, I've removed this and disconnect the Live (Brown) Neutral (Blue) and Earth (Green/Yellow).

When putting up the new light fitting I noticed there's no place for the Earth so I chock blocked this off. I then connected the Brown to L and the Blue to N.

Turned the power back on and........nothing.

Here's what it currently looks like, what am I doing wrong?!

You definitely only had the one twin & earth cable connected to the old light?

Have you checked that the terminal screws are making contact with copper, not insulation?

Is it possible to delete a Topic you've created??

Thanks to much for taking the time to reply.

I'm blaming the missus, it was her fault....or something.

Not after two jobs I had last week where both customers said 'electric gone off'.

1 - where I had been working the day before - prepayment key run out.

2 - consumer unit switched off ???

you ask for help then refuse to reveal te solution which might help someone else in the same situation

Is the solution not "check that the bulb is OK on the new light before assuming there's something else wrong"?
