Hi, I'm trying to identify the construction of an internal wall in order to be confident about hanging heavy items on it (e.g a TV) and also to decide the fixing method. I had assumed it was a stud wall until I looked at the wall from above in the loft (it's an upstairs wall). See attached photos. I've used electrical cable and metal detector devices with no firm conclusion. In fact I get readings all over the wall which I'm sure are false The wall is only 60mm deep incuding plaster. Could it be some sort of insulation ? there are several walls that look the same from above. Any ideas and suggested fixing method would be welcome.
Alan

Paramount board. As far as I know no one makes it anymore. Its 2 layers of plasterboard with the "space" in between made of "egg carton" cardboard bonded to both boards.

If you use suitable board fixings for the load, it will be ok. Toggle, umbrella, Grip-it etc

Use fixing anchors for plaster boards. Enter that into B&Q, for example, and they'll come up. And they are cheap by the bag full.
