Is this a chimney cap?

Hi,

I have been informed I need to get my chimney pots capped. Due to rain getting in and birds. (I've had a few birds in the flue recently) I had a roofer round today who has told me they are already capped but what they have in them is like a clay half arched inset. I'll upload a photo of what's inserted. Can anyone confirm or deny for me if what the roofer is saying and these are or aren't caps. That will stop rain and birds? Inside the fireplaces have been removed, bricked up and vented.

That is a chimney cap. There are other sorts, but they're all caps.
As you're not using your chimney, that will suffice perfectly well.

That might not keep out the smaller birds, you could always stuff a bit of mesh in there
