isolating valve

Hi
This maybe a dumb question, just installed radiator in hallway that is slightly smaller than original one. When I shorten the pipe is their any reason why I cannot join them using an isolating valve?

you can but use a full bore one.
why an isolation valve just another thing that can leak.
use a compression coupler or solder.
