It's like the Falklands war all over again.

The Falklands have been an issue for hundreds of years, why would you sell arms to a potential enemy?
So your saying we shouldnt have anything to do with spain . or we should never have anything to do with china in the last century ?

As Spain are in NATO, a bit different to Argentina.
spain only became part of nato in 1982 and and we had been at war with spain many times over the centuries And they still make a big issue about Gib . How many times had we been to war with argentina and were they classed as allies at the time .
So what about china .

As you are trying to divert away from the fact that we supplied arms to potential enemies to pump your xenophobia, remember this, the arms trade is a very dirty business and the UK are up to their eyes in it as are France, Germany, Israel , USA .........

Sssh... gas90210 has his eyes and ears covered. Doesn't want his fantasy of the squeaky clean UK soiled, poor sod.

It is a bit stupid blaming some country for selling weapons to a ocuntry that isn't a problem at the time and later turns out to be.

France cropped up in respect to a sensor used in Russian guided stuff. Numpties post comments about the French based on incomplete info. This area has been looked at more carefully now. If Russia can be prevented from buying a number of components they wont be able to make these weapons. That should be easy shouldn't it but actually it isn't. They can be used for all sorts of things and then comes distributors who have stock. Then the other factor. How many they bought and when. They appear - rumour really to use rather a lot. They might also use some other similar part. They may be able to make them themselves. Tricky one that. Volumes reduce prices on semiconductors. DIY in smaller numbers is likely to be more expensive.

:ROFLMAO: Then to cap it all Truss plays the hate the French card for the Tory party members. Seen as a stupid thing for a foreign secretary to do. Must mean some party members like to hear that. See her behind a lectern with Blinken behind another and the differences are very apparent. She's a child in this area compared with him. Lavrov appeared to be amused too. Must admit I feel that we need better than our talking head politicians in some positions. They have to rely on advisors and can't add much themselves.

Russia has declared that Western IP is free, so they are busy reverse engineering all sorts of tech and steeling everything from Microsoft word, to advanced GPU chip designs.

It will be decades before anyone wants to work with them again.
