All the joists should be sitting on a wall plate fitted to the inner leaf.

Joists can be extended over the outer brickwork should a soffit overhang detail be required.

The purpose of the plate on the inner skin makes it easy to strap the plate down using bent holding down straps, to the inner leaf.

Butted/stunted fascia looks wazz so we always try and include a soffit overhang.

The first joist needs to go over the outer leaf , else there is nothing to lay the roof on!

You'll need to fix it with noggins (600mm centres) to the second joist which will be about 20mm in from your finished plaster face

The roof should have a minimum 50mm overhang from the brickwork to form a drip
