hi guys, just a quick question here. I am setting up 2 dummy bellboxes with 12v led units for my grandparents back and front. I have bought an elmdene 12v 1 amp power supply. no problem setting it up. I was just wondering what the black circular thing is on the psu? it is connected to the live and neutral on the mains block just before the transformer.

no I have no intention on removing it before you say, just interested to know what it is.

thanks

thanks that's cleared that up a transient voltage suppressor sounds handy. for some daft reason I thought it may have been a thermal trip monitoring the heat of the transformer, so if the transformer overheats it cuts off the supply.

can you guys recommend any good websites I would like to fit a mains spike suppressor for my alarm panel.

cheers

Why on earth do you still want those? Surely all detectors have this facility built in now? We've not used these for years now.

ps .... & no problems

thanks, it will have to be from maplins, the other site requires you to own or work for a security company to buy from there, annoying and understandable at the same time. As you can guess I'm just a diyer trying to fit an alarm (already fitted and working) to a professional standard.I'll pick up some heatshrink and some insulation connect it up. cheers
