Hi all,

About a year ago I re-did my kitchen. I got some builders to rip up the old stone floor (as it was uneven), they put down a waterproof membrane and then filled it with concrete. I then tilled onto this.

A few months after my kitchen was installed, I started to see mould growing on the walls which I never could understand. Finally a year later I found the problem was when I put in my new washer a year earlier, unknowingly to me it was leaking at the back. I took the washer out and the kick boards and the concrete floor was soaked and mould was growing up the walls.

I have now sorted the leak out but the concrete floor is still very wet and mould is still growing, it has been about 1 month. I'm assuming the water proof membrane is stopping the water draining through the ground and that is why it isn't drying very quickly. Is this correct?

Is there any methods I can use to speed up the drying of the floor?

Will it ever dry with tiles on top of it?

How long would you expect it to take to dry naturally?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks,
Mark

unfortionally i've no idea on how long etc...

but whack a dehumdifier in there, it'll suck the moisture out the air,
reducing the airborne humidity and thus causing the wet surfaces to dry out quicker.

keep doors & windows closed for max drying effect :?:
