These old double panel rads are part of my system, the remainder are convectors. Does anyone have an estimate for the outouts for them as want to include in total kW rads load. Should I replace them with moderm convectors as boiler is Vaillant 637 and I want to upgrade to modern vaillant WC controls

Typical:

Lounge 600H x 2000L

Bedroom one 430H x 1830L

Bedroom two 430H x 1500L

Bedroom three 430H x 1500L

Assuming they're all double panel...

Lounge - 2.4kw
B1 - 1.6kw
B2 - 1.4kw
B3 - 1.4kw

Outputs are affected by several factors so these are approximate but it'll give you something to go on. If you replaced them with modern convector radiators you'd get away with having physically smaller ones, or alternatively retain the existing dimensions and run them at a lower temperature (better for efficiency, not so great for your wallet).

Never fit smaller rads.

They were sized for non-con boilers.

You need more output to allow lower temps and higher efficiency.

An old double panel is about the same as a single with fins now.
