Lawnmower Blade Seizing

Hi

We have a qualcast electric mower, MEB1640M, which will run fine for about 5 minutes then the blade seizes.

I've had the belt off and both pulleys turn freely but with the belt on, turning by hand in the correct direction, it's fine at first then locks. If I turn in the opposite direction a few turns it will start turning in the other direction again then eventually lock. On a couple of occasions I have managed to force it past the lock by pushing hard.

Any idea what could be causing this please

If you disconnect the drive belt and run it does it still lock up the same

Maybe the electric brake is deploying when it shouldn’t?

Thank you for the responses. Haven't tried actually running it with the belt off, but the pulleys never lock by hand. where would the electric brake be?

tbh. it may be time to replace it, its given good service, looking at the flymo easimow 380R or the Webb weer40 . Does anyone have any experience of these
