when referring to lead what do thay mean when thay say 3/8 5lb or 1/2 7lb

3/8 or 1/2 is bore size in inches.
Weight gives wall thickness. 1/2" comes in 6lb or 7lb usually, 3/4 in 9lb, 3/8 in 5lb...

I always asssumed it was the actual weight of one foot length of the pipe.....

the outside stop tap has pactup and i need to replace it can i buy a new stop tap remove the top part and fit it into the old body or are they all different ie thread/seating yours the drip!!
