I recently had the heating element replaced in my hot water tank. The tank has now started leaking at the top where the hot water outlet pipe is. I called the plumber who replaced the heating element and all he could say was well the tank needs replacing now

Not great timing as I am due to go on holiday shortly. I was wondering whether as a temporary measure whilst I'm on holiday, if it would be safe enough to stop the cold water feed into the hot water tank and then drain it to stop it leaking?

I can then decide what I want to do when I'm back. Any advice would be appreciated.

It will be fine if isolated whilst away i always turn off mains water when im on holiday iffact some home insurance policies state you must. Take some pictures you may not need a new cylinder

Thanks, thought that might be the case.. just wanted to be sure.
