Leaking Shower - please help!

Hi,

Wondering if you can help. We had a shower installed a couple of months ago and it's leaked periodically ever since. The leak occurs if the shower is on for more than a few minutes. It comes through the edge of the kitchen ceiling directly beneath where the shower tray meets the tiled wall on which the shower is fitted. Fairly certain it's not related to the drainage pipe, which is around 2 feet away from the leak.

Plumber has been back 3 times - each time he's resealed the right angle between the shower tray and the wall and each time it's been ok for a few weeks then it happens again. He's now talking about having to regrout.

If the regrout doesn't work he's talking about the beams in the bathroom not having been fitted correctly which means the shower moves slightly and causes the leak, something he didn't comment on when he was doing the work and the floorboards were up!

Anyone got any advice? Is this common problem usually fixed by a regrout or even taking the entire tray out and resealing everything? Is there any truth to this talk of beams?

thanks. looks like our plumber needs to take it all out and reseal from scratch. unless these sealing strips are any good?

if the kitchen ceiling is plasterboard, it is possible the leak may be elsewhere, and the water is running across the kitchen ceiling and emerging at the point of least resistance where the plasterboard meets the wall. (or in my case it was the kitchen light fitting )

i had a similar thought but the leak stopped for a few weeks after resealing whereas if it was finding it's way there from the waste pipe resealing the edge wouldn't have made any difference.
