Lighting to look like stars for playhouse ceiling help plz

Hi I'm building a playhouse for my daughter and I'm boarding the ceiling and painting it black to look like sky at night ,I've seen this on a program that you can drill lots of small holes in the ceiling board and place lights in the holes,what I'm not sure of is the lights ,I'm not sure what they are ,could be led of some kind or fibre optic ,as I can't remember what they used on the program ,the playhouse will be wired up by an electrician but I want to drill the holes and place the lighting in myself ..any ideas of which lighting is suitable at she wants it to look like stars ..thanks
