Lime Scale Deterant for water

Hi,
I was just wondering if I could \ should put some kind of Lime scale deteriator on my cold water supply, to stop everything getting clogged with lime scale, I have a Lime scale eater on the boiler, should I put something like that on the water mains or should I use something like:-

i prefer the ones like fernox quantomat or sentinel combiguard.

I wasn't sure if I needed a 'Clean supply' going to at least one tap (not sure, but I thought that you were supposed to have a 'Drinking Water tap' direct from the supply, but that wouldn't be overly difficult.
Please advise.
