Meter Tails

In the "old days" tails used to be redinsulated and sheathed, and black insulated and sheathed. For some reason they changed to red and black insulated and grey sheathed, and subsequently brown and blue insulated and grey sheathed.

I have always thought it best to identify the grey sheath and used to think vinyl tape was suitable, but it degrades, possibly from the plasticisers.

You can get multicoloured packs of cable ties now which seem better, though they may fade in time. The meter fitters use a similar tie.

You are almost certainly going to be told that if you are a newbie, and need to ask these questions, you should not be doing anything which requires you to know the answers!
BAS must be having a night off
Indeed so - and one or two others, as well! I have to say that I was rather surprised by his/their silence.

Kind Regards, John.

One big advantage of having insulation and sheath different colors is that it makes damage more visible.
