Mira Event Theromostatic 1996 - cutting out

Hi

I've the above power shower which is cutting out, as if the electric has been turned off. It's ok for 2 back to back showers but if a third person has a shower a minute in it will cut out. If you leave this for half hour or more it works again.

Have looked across the net and lots spoken about Mira's cutting out but nothing specific about this model.

How is it cutting out? MCB or RCD on Consumer unit? Or shower unit cutting out?

Sound like the motor worn out and tripping the thermal trip.

The motor is fitted with self-resetting thermal trip protection, designed to operate if the duty cycle is exceeded or ambient temperatures become too high.

The continuous duty cycle is 15 mins on, 60 mins off.

Many thanks for the reply, the shower itself cuts out, it's not tripping RCD etc...

Sounds like it could well be the cycle being exceed then, it's one of the showers in the house that gets most use and some members of the house seem to like very long showers!

Maybe not a fault but just a feature of its design.

Thanks for the reply, I replaced these just recently, thinking that maybe the issue.

Are the motor brushes worn down?
