mirobore rads

hi iv got a mirobore heating system. i need to change one of the rads to a double. the problem is the return and the flow both come in to one fittting on one side of the rad.after removing the old rad i found a pice of pipe comeing out if the middle of the fitting the return and flow come in to.and this picee of pipe stops me from fitting the new rad is it is about 16inch long.what is it for and can i get a double to fit this.

Twin entry valves are no longer available, so you will have to buy a trv and lockshield and extend one pipe to the other end of radiator.

Or you can cut the pipe 200mm short of the rad length and refit using same valve.
