Yes just to add to that, the issue is thermal mass, basically if it's cold, then the damp air warms up faster than the object, the object will get condensation. So keeping all objects above the dew point will stop them getting damp.
Ventilation just keeps the inside air the same as outside, actually there the outside air is more humid and warmer than inside, you'd do better to keep it out. Hope this helps!
