Hi
I've just moved into a new place with a wooden back door and a mortise lock. I've just noticed that the door can be locked from the outside with no issue but when it is locked from the inside the key cannot be removed from the lock. I have tried wd40 to loosen it but it doesn't work.
It's not a major problem but the house has an enclosed walkway from the back door that is also accessible from both gardens and has two rooms that lead off it. All four of these other rooms have the same locks using the same key but they operate in the opposite sense to the back door- they can be locked ok from the inside but the key is trapped when used outside.
I'd like to put a washing machine in one of the rooms but only if I could lock the doors.
Is this repairable or should I buy replacement locks?
Thanks in advance
Dan
