I am told the motor on my boiler needs changing. I had no hot water for a few days. A plumber friend had a look for me.

should i buy a brand new motor or look for a second hand one, on ebay maybe?

Can I change the motor myself easily.

I have been quoted £175 for replacing the motor including fitting. I dont have anywhere near that kind of money spare, can I do the job myself. Could anyone tell me how the job is done.

Its is a very bad time of year for a £175 bill. I would be so grateful for any advice or help.

You are a right laugh....you are. Loved the little yellow face, it was just hilarious. You must be so popular, with all your friends, sending little yellow faces to each other.....thanks for the advice.

I had a plumber mate around to look at it, he took it apart and the motor sounded like it was struggling. So have a feeling its bad news.

So why didn't your 'plumber mate' fix it for you?..........not much of a mate then!

he wanted £175 for his friendship....he wasnt that much of a mate. not anymore he isnt anyway.

Do you know if £175 is about the going rate to replace the motor.
