The electrics mounted on the wall of my house (main supply + meter) were mounted on a board. This was in a bad way when we bought the property and soon disintegrated. I want to mount the boxes back to the wall but can i mount onto a wooden board (mdf) or do i need a specific material?

Thanks

If it is the cut-out and meter contact the DNO to fit a new meter board. You cannot re-fix these units without breaking seals (which is not permitted) and exposing live terminals.

The boards the DNOs use are fire resistant chipboard

This work is not chargeable.

The only limitation is if the consumer unit is also involved, this should preferable be on a separate board

You need to call in the DNO. They should do it for free. You can't do it yourself.

EDIT: Bah!

It is special fire-retardant impregnated board.

The board, meter and cut out belong to the electricity supply company and it is their responsibility to maintain it.

You would be unable to fix the cut out/cablehead or meter to anything without breaking the electricity company's seals. This not only breaks the terms of the supply agreement that you have with them but also you would be working with dangerous live components.

Call your DNO and have them come and sort it for you.

EDIT: Damn, must type faster...
