moving conifers

I have some conifers which have outgrown a rockery, they are 8-9' tall(after 9 years). Is it likely they would survive moving, or should I accept that they will have to go?

Conifers often do not take kindly to being moved. I guess you'll have to guage whether or not you think it is worth it.

Agreed, it's very unlikley that a conifer of this sort of size will transplant, but, you can always try. Make sure they are well watered for a few days before you start, have the new hole ready dug out for the oversized rootball, and try not to damage any of the roots as you lift it.

whatif I was to cut them in half, would they just look weird?
