I have to move a consumer unit about 5m from existing position. Most of the circuits will be extended from where they are to the new position. I would normally use a junction box with appropriate terminal blocks to connect the cables.

Any suggestions on alternative methods gratefully received.

Crimping.

DIN-rail through terminals mounted on a rail in a suitable enclosure.

Hello.
Are you moving the new cosumer unit away from the incoming supply point as I believe local authorities only allow meter tails to be a certain length? ( 3mtrs here.).
Is there anyway you could run some trunking for the cabling and crimp and sleeve them in it ? Any screwed connections ( so to speak !) must be accessible for inspection etc.
Hope this is of some help.

Nothing to do with the Local Authority.
