My small extension and cdm regs

Thanks guys, so who is principal designer? The retired architect or the firm of structural engineers checking ground conditions/calculations/kit design etc it is the firm of engineers issuing the design certificate.

You're asking exactly the right questions. But you're asking exactly the wrong people. You need to talk to your engineer and your architect.
 
The principle designer is whoever you appoint, in writing and who accepts that appointment. If they don't accept the appointment, then the contractor/principle contractor will manage that function - with the designers input.

But it's a mess. And in practice, unworkable.
 
There is a practical solution, get the drawings off the architect/SE, find a builder and build the extension
