Hi all,
I have a myson appollo fanfare boiler.
The problem with it is that it wont fire up.
If it's switched to timed or constant you can hear the fan start, to me this tells me the timer is working and doing what it should.
The fan runs freely and smooth.
The pilot is alight.
There is something that's telling the boiler not to fire up.
If I'm persistant and keep on switching off/on then eventually it does fire up.
I managed to get it fired up yesterday and had the hot water turned to constant and the rads switch off but the rads got hot aswell, very strange!!
I'm no heating engineer but I've had the cover off the boiler and tested all the wiring, the air pressure switch is clicking when blown down which to me indicates that it's opening and closing.
This boiler looks so simple and there's not much on it that can go wrong,
but it's got me baffled!!!
Any help/advice will be appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Dave
ps:-roll on the warm weather!!

You need to test the Orange wire from the valve.

It should have power when the boiler is programmed on.

checked.
power to the orange wire when on.
not sure about the lever switch thingy underneath, just goes side to side.

i am thinking tha air pressure switch/sensing tubes/fan
corgi territory.

The air presure switch seems to be opening and closing when blowing through it.
Don't get me wrong when I say it wont fire up.
It's on now and firing up and all seems well, but it's the first initial startup that's the problem.
As I say, it's on now, but if I switch the controls off, say overnight or for a few hours, then try to start heating or hot water with constant the next time, that's when it wont fire up.
I have to switch all off and wait for the fan to stop then put back to on over and over and over again until eventually it does fire up. Once I have that initial fire up, it will be fine until it's turned off.
Same applies to when on timed.
Sorry for any confusion.
Any thoughts??
Dave

You need to check that Orange wire when it don't work, and stop playing with the dam boiler, at least until you proved the valve is not duff
