Need comments for plan to build mini green houses

I've got the garding bug and want to build a few mini green houses - I was hoping someone could comment on the plans:

- buy some wooden boxes - say 80cm x 40 cm
and add mud or compost - or whatever is needed

- buy some transparent perspex or acrylic

- 'somehow' make a box to sit over the wooden box

- drill holes to allow for ventillation of the plants

I'm not quite sure how to build the transparent boxes yet!
Would it be a better idea to just buy 2 transparent boxes + fill one of the boxes and then keep the other placed on top?

I've never ever ever done gardening in my life before!!
So am completely clueless!!

Am I missing something?
Is there more to it than what I think?
Am I missing any vital considerations!?

Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated
