Hi, I have been in my house for 2 years now. We have a thorne apollo heater which when you switch it on for hot water, you have to have the radiators on too and can be a right pain in the summer months.

As far I am aware, this is a conventional system and we have an immersion heater in the bedroom.

Got a couple of questions.

1) Is there a way with my current system that I can just heat the water and not have the rads on?

2) If I was to upgrade, whats the best system to upgrade to and will floorboards have to be lifted and much pipework be changed?

Thanks for your time.

need more info on your system, valves etc

As above reply, but you could just change to a fully pumped system ie a 'Y' plan, with a new 7 day full programmer, eg Danfoss FP715Si.

This will give all the control you need over your system and also be ready for the day your boiler eventually dies a death, so making the boiler change cheaper at the time.

Usually most work will be in the airing cupboard, with not too many boards having to be lifted.

This, obviously, depends on your layout of pipes at present.
