New Condensing Boiler - Lower Central Heating Temperature

The first thing to do is to know what type of controls you have.

If the control is just an on/off from a room stat then set the boiler CH temperature to the MINIMUM which will give you adequate heating. That will be the setting which will condense most and be the most economical.

The OP on this long topic was a little odd because he thought £1500 for a new boiler was expensive ( its actually very cheap ) but he has no interest in his fuel costs and wants to have his house at 26° whereas the recommended is 20-21°. That will double his heating costs from about £1000pa to £2000 pa.

If you have a control which modulates the boiler such as weather compensation or the Worcester proportional thermostat then the boiler should be set at maximum as the control will then run it at the lowest setting appropriate to the heat output required.

The Worcester technical advice is the best in the industry and unlike Vaillant they do answer their phones and emails.

I sent an enquiry to Vaillant two weeks ago but obviously by now they are not going to reply.

Hi thank you for your reply but sorry not to sure what you mean by...

Would you mind putting it in layman's terms please. Not sure what the weather compensation or the Worcester proportional thermostat is. I have TRV's and a remote room thermostat by Honeywell.

Thank you
Andrew

I dont know why you are posting on this topic when you have already ( correctly ) started your own topic.

It seems you dont have a proportional control so set the boiler CH as low as possible to give enough heat.
