I have moved into a new flat with a new kitchen.

I have bought an electric cooker and need to connect it. There is a cooker electrical thing on the wall. When I take off the blanking plate I get this:

I have this as a consumer unit:

The fuse for the cooker is a red one with 30A written on it.

My cooker (dual oven & hob) has a sticker at the back saying 230 - 240V 50Hz 9800 - 10700W

Am I right in thinking that I need a 6mm2 cooker cable? I probaly need about 1 or 2 meters to allow me to connect it easily.

The cooker will be right up against the wall where the connection is. Do I just loosen the screws in my 1st pic and connect the cable and tighten screws? Thanks for any help.

6mm should be fine.

BTW, it looks like the cooker feed is not so old, but the fusebox could be.
Could be nothing to worry about, but it might be a good idea to get the rest of the electrics checked out before you decide to do any decorating/carpetting
