I need to fit a new hot water cylinder where do you fit the tank stat on the new foam covered cylinders

it hard to remember you have to describe it as you would to a 3yr old. :LOL:
 
:LOL: just make sure the foam is cut away so that the stat is sitting on the copper. by this use a stanly or model knife to cut round the stat and include allowance for the cable.
 
The best position can vary with the location and height of the heating coil!

I always put mine 1/3rd down.

If the water at the top of the cylinder is 60c, the water in the middle would be the same irrespective of where the stat was fitted. :rolleyes:

Tell me, does a cylinder stat turn off when the top 1/3rd is60c or when the stat at 1/3rd up reaches 60c, meaning the water at the tap could be nearer 70c.
