it hard to remember you have to describe it as you would to a 3yr old.

just make sure the foam is cut away so that the stat is sitting on the copper. by this use a stanly or model knife to cut round the stat and include allowance for the cable.
2/3 from the top of say a 900mm cylinder is the same as 1/3 from the bottom.

If the water at the top of the cylinder is 60c, the water in the middle would be the same irrespective of where the stat was fitted.
Tell me, does a cylinder stat turn off when the top 1/3rd is60c or when the stat at 1/3rd up reaches 60c, meaning the water at the tap could be nearer 70c.
