new light and switch

I followed the diy tips on how to install a new light and switch taking the cable from switch to light and the cable from junction box (not connected yet) to the light but instructions says light pendent should have 2 blocks one with 2 terminals and the other with 3 three terminals but the light i've got only has 1 block 3 terminals is it ok to connect them to the block or what is the correct step to take thanks

pendants usually have a ceiling rose attached to them.. with wiring similar to below, depending on how old the installation is..

thanks guys but the light i've got hasn't got a pendent its just a light. 1 block 3 terminals. would i be better taking a live to the switch then to the light and neutral and earth from juction box to the light or do i carry on with the diy instruction any idea would be welcome
the light itself is a ceiling or wall light (the dome glass kind) thanks

make your mind up....

look in the wiki for //www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:single-way-lighting and find the one that has terminal blocks..

If the light doesn't have enough terminals in it, add some more:

If there isn't enough room in the light fitting for extra terminals, then first of all it is a piece of junk. Second, take the supply to the switch, and connect the neutrals and earth together in there using the same kind of terminal strip.
