Hi! We just replaced our solar water heater pump (Grundfos 115v, type up 15-16 SUSN Class F) with a new one (Grundfos also). The water heater is in a separate storage room and yet we can hear the pump all through our house. This wasn't the case with the old pump. It's a humming noise, nothing unusual, but just that we never noticed any noise from the old pump.

Could this have anything to do with the Water Company installing a new meter recently (without our knowledge) before we replaced this pump? (Water pressure issue damaging something?) Or is it just the pump itself?

We'd appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

The water meter will not make any difference.

Some pumps are more noisy that others.

Update: I read on another forum about "bleeding" the pump and that seemed to help a bit. The noise isn't as loud now...still audible in parts of the house, but at least not the whole house.

Thank you for the reply!

I cannot imagine that you are getting much solar water heating this week!

Tony, we live in Hawaii. It's not sunny season, but today it is..after a very gloomy, cold, wet day yesterday.

Check with the guy who fitted the pump that he bled it and circulated the system through the fillng pump needed,if he didn`t theres still air in it which you can hear
