Hi

Getting a brand spanking new unvented system, all new rads/pipework/taps, full refurb basically. Also getting a new water main into the house.

Obviously, I want to protect this investment as best as possible - what bits would you recommend?

Water softener? Salt or electronic? Whole main, or just hot water? Separate 'hard' drinking tap?

'Magatech/flow' - something like that, not sure what it does

Inhibitor fluid of some sort?

Anything else?

Best thing is to keep water well away from it.

Soft water is not a cure-all, it has its own problems.

An electronic or magnetic unit is the plumbing equivalent to snake oil.

Inhibitor is possibly beneficial, but AFAIK is not used much on the continent.

A CH system needs maintaining, and in the end will wear out and need replacing.
