Does anyone know how to remove the plastic cover from the inside of a Micra 2005 tailgate ?

get a screwdriver behind it. should be held on by plastic poppers

its the should be that concrens me, I am trying to avoid buggering it up and buying a new one.

Be gentle with it then! If you lever it back gently you'll see the poppers behind it. Get the screwdriver nice and close to them and all should be well. It's highly likely that you'll break a couple of them, but they're literally a few pence each to buy
