When turning the shower off by the isolator (pull cord) there was a bang and flash come from the isolator. But now there is no electric coming into the consumer unit at all.

Anyone have any ideas what could have happened ? and would i have to call out the electricity board to sort it out ?

Thanks in advance

It's either your main fuse- in which case you have to call the DNO out. Or it could be an RCD, if you only have the one. In this case it's an electrician.

Photo of consumer unit may help.

It's probably the RCD that's tripped a photo of your consumer unit will help tell

Chances are that the cables have melted in the shower pull switch and caused the bang and the RCD to trip.

You need to take off the shower switch and see whats behind the switch.

You will probably have to make safe the cable before you will be able to reset the RCD.

Take a photo of your consumer unit and switch off the fuse/circuit braker for the shower and carefully unscrew the pull switch and inspect behind it. A photo would be good to.

Is the light flashing at all on the meter?
If not it will be your main fuse so you need to call the DNO

Pictures are above, the rcd's are on and iv just a multimeter across the main isolator but theres nothing at all coming into the property. Iv tried changing the big fuse but still nothing. and no the light isnt flashing at all on the meter

Exactly what do you mean by 'you've tried changing the big fuse'.

You need to call your DNO out.

And you shouldn't use the pull cord to switch the shower off during use (unclear if you did this?).

The isolator isn't designed to be used on load, you should use the controls on the front of the shower.

Its a free visit, call them now, they may come tonight.

The DNO will come out for free because they have to restore power you shouldn't be pulling fuses out they are sealed for a reason

Call the emergency loss of power number and they will send someone out to restore your supply

But are you seriously saying that you are swapping over the main DNO-owned fuse between supplies. Who broke the seals? Expect questions from the DNO at the very least.

It's also worth check that there hasn't coincidentally been a power cut. Or that about every third house in the street is without power.

I doubt its a power cut its been off for around 5 hours now but we will see by tomorrow morning. Thanks for the advice ill call the electricity board out tomorrow morning
