No Hot water

Can anyone help?

My central heating is working fine but we do not have any hot water!

The water is comong out the hot tap cold and is not calling the boiler to come on and heat it up!

The Grundfoss pump is coming on with the Central heating.

Any ideas anyone?

Will you give us a little more info on your system or should I get my crystal ball out again.How do you expect an answer with so little info on boiler type and other system controls.

Its a potterton suprima 60 gas boiler which had a new pcb fitted last year.

There is a hotwater tank on the upstairs hall landing where the Grundfoss pump is and a thermostat (with a boost button) attached to the tank.

In the loft is a large water tank and a small header tank.

The boiler comes on when I turn the Central Heating thermostat in the downstair hall on.

these next to your hot water cylinder ?

Could be timer, valve, thermostat or wiring.

Yes I have 2 gate valves in the Airing cuboard by the cylinder.
I have tried swithching them to manual which runs the pump for a few seconds and then goes off again.

I think you should get someone in to look at your heating system, no disrespect but you dont come across as the diy type.

ok see if you have 240v at the brown wire on the hot water valve and post back what you find.

Do you mean motorised valves?

If so, what make are they, as you may just be able to change the synchronous motor inside if its failed.

Not at all, I know the bird in question, and she can fly. In fact, most women can fly.
Especially off the handle.

Yes there is power the the valve as the orange LED is on.

They are Potterton valves

the led can be misleading, the valve may opened but the micro switch may not have made, do you have 240v on the orange wire from the valve ?
