My friend was using quite a few sockets when all of a sudden NO Power.
I have had a look at the trip switches and they are all ON.
I took the cover off one of the sockets and put a screwdriver tester on the Live and it lit up showing power to the socket.I put an appliance in the socket but does not work.
What can it be??

I have bought in an extension cable and all appliances work.
What is also bothering me is that when I switched the power ff for the sockets in question other working sockets went dead also.
Am I right in thinking they are all on the same circuit or 2 circuits wired to one mains trip switch.

My friend lent me a plug in tester.
When plugged in it reads P-E Reverse.

Can anybody explain what this means,
Thanks

Why does that bother you? It's what you'd expect.

Yes.

It means that it appears to the tester that phase (live) and earth are swapped over, but this is probably not what has happened literally.

It means many things, none of which are at all good.

It means you need to call an electrician ASAP.

Thanks Everybody for all your help. and suggestions.
Problem Solved it was a loose neutal in one of the sockets.
:D
