This is following on from Southsea's 'noisy pipes' post. We have similar problem - upstairs toilet cisterns make loud noises when flushed, one toilet does it when emptying the cistern and the other does it when filling. It seems to be worse in the morning than later in the day. It's a mains-fed high pressure system and we have tried:
draining the system to see if there was an airlock causing the noise
closing the stopcock to reduce the water pressure
taking the ballvalve out and refitting it (no obvious signs of wear - only 9 years old)
checking it is set for high pressure
hanging a yoghurt pot from the ball
None seem to work - has anyone any other ideas?
