Not sure if this is the right place really but the shower pump I have just installed is really noisy, I have checked that it is not vibration in the pipes, but its just the noise of the pump istelf.

The neighbours have not complained yet, but the pump is in the airing cupboard which is right up against the adjoining wall, and it doesnt take much for them to complain so I am sure that if I just leave it they will be round within a week.

I have found a website that recommends you box in the pump with mdf or something similar and then pad the inside with some of their high density foam (which is complies with part e of the building regs). They say it will stop most if not all of the noise.

But the instructions say it must be well ventilated (i.e. not covered with towels in the airing cupboard etc).

My question is, has anyone else on here boxed in a shower pump before? and if you have is there an amount of space I should leave around the pump to keep the pump well ventilated??
