I had a NovoRoll [deluxe] electrically operated roller shutter installed on my garage in January 2018, three months later in April 2018 the door failed to close properly and appeared to be jammed, however I managed to 'nurse' it down with the remote and the manual winding mechanism.. The installers, The Garage Door Co in Sheffield replaced what I can only describe as the unit designed to stop the door crashing down in the event on motor failure, which it hadn't!
This has now happened again with the same unit failing again, after about a week the company turned up to fix this but hadn't got the relevant part, this has to be ordered, a week further on still no progress!
After the first incident I contacted the companies head office spoke to a lady but could not speak to anyone with technical knowledge so I wrote in detailing my concerns, I never received a response. On the latest incident I contacted the manager at the local branch and wrote to him with my concerns enclosing a copy of what was sent to head office.
Sorry about the length of this post but I need to set the scene, it transpires that these arresting mechanisms may now have been modified so obliviously I've insisted that the newer version be fitted.
Has anyone had similar experiences with this shutter, it also appears to be known as Thermaglide 77 and manufactured by Cardale.
If this device is supposed to be an arresting mechanism then why can the roller shutter be manoeuvred up and down manually [not easily] surely if working correctly the shutter should be locked solid! I'm also concerned that there is no reset mechanism on the device itself.
Once again I'm sorry for the length of this post but I'm struggling to get a grip on this, I'm fast coming to the conclusion that the shutter is not fit for purpose. Any help, assistance, guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you for reading this.
