Old Conservatives don't understand

Now we're seeing why all the increase in red tape has been brought in to force the small landlord out.

City investors backing unlimited immigration whilst sheilded from its impacts sitting in the comfort of their leafy mansions
And here it is.
Contractors from the Home Office have been offering landlords five-year guaranteed full-rent deals to take over the management of properties.
The Home Office has built up a stock of 16,000 properties for asylum seekers as young people struggle to get on the housing ladder.
Properties from the private rental and social housing markets are being used to house more than 58,000 asylum seekers across England, Wales and Scotland.

One of the biggest Tory failures.

Anybody who wants to make political point scoring by blaming just one side is on a hiding to nothing, because it’s simply untrue.

The idea of making a living, borrowing money, buying property and renting it out as so called passive income on a small scale is bonkers. You have to be ready to invest real money. Otherwise it's probably right that you should be squeezed out.

Without the responsible good private landlords there will be more of this

a damning report exposed the failings of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing. Two-year-old Awaab Ishak died after prolonged exposure to black mould. A housing ombudsman’s inquiry prompted by his death found that tenants were routinely judged by “prejudiced” staff who made “lazy assumptions”.
Britain’s largest housing association, Clarion, is a serial failure, while an investigation by ITV exposed a litany of failings by numerous social housing providers in recent years.

But instead private landlords are labelled evil for not allowing pets and are forced to accept them. ( which increases the rent ) -then its gready landlords increasing the rent again.

Private landlords are a saviour. What would happen without them ? The government can’t maintain its current housing stock, let alone produce more.

But more and more BTL landlords are selling up due to the government.

Its almost like that is the design.

I'm sure it is by design.
Why haven't the left spotted this, do they hate private landlords so much they are willing to overlook the investment bankers and big companies taking over the housing stock who will squeeze even more profit form the renters. The left should be behind the individual private landlord as a champion providing quality housing.

Reminds me of the time when Tesco's moved into a town near us when a labour council brought out the double yellow lines outside the local shopkeepers shops.
One bloke had an air raid siren to warn parking warden was in the area, which was good while it lasted which wasn't long when the dead eyed in the council cottoned on.
