when I was a nipper I do re-call the terms scallywag, rascal and strangly herbert, don't know the history for the last one.

you are a right "mary anne" this relates to a site on the now closed American base at Burtonwood...near Warrington

The term was used in a star trek episode "The way to Eden" i'm presuming it was an american 60's invention that found its way to these shores later?
