I won't be happy until Vodafone and O2 bring out their own versions.
Are you sure it's thermo-electric? It's not easy to get anything like five volts out of a thermopile with such a small temperature difference. I would be using a magnet bouncing up and down inside a coil of wire.
Our other half has a rechargeable LED torch that works on this principle. At least it did until she shook it so hard that the batteries broke free. Just what did she think she was doing ---

I could just imagine someone trying to walk in boots with this in , if the insulation broke down.
