peel off what you can to get back to a firm edge. give the ceiling a coat of pva and then use a bathroom/kitchen emulsion. let it dry out as long as possible before making any condensation

If you don't have one, perhaps an extractor fan may help?

thermo and shaggy
sorry about the delay...been tiling..:(
i think both solutions will do nicely..the ceiling now has a holding coat and when i revamp that bathroom...its my son's actually
we will get the sparks to put in an extractor...
i had one in my last home which was new built, ducted to the eaves via a ceiling vent, and it cleared the bathroom in about 10 mins..
thanks to you both again
cheers
