Painting Front Door

Hi

I am going to repaint a tired old front door on my house. The door is currently white and I am going to paint it a deep red. Do I need to prime it first? and if not is the process just

sand down till no shiney surface
wipe clean
paint

???

Providing the paintwork is intact just sand dust off and apply your mid grey undercoat, sand dust off and then apply your gloss.

If you've got a belt sander with variable speed you can get fantastic results (as per Decs instructions).
