painting new skimmed walls

Hi there,

Can anyone help me ?

I have just had my living room walls skimmed Do I need to put a base coat on first ? If so what do you recommend

Im absolutley useless and I want to get it right !

But basically, you use watered down emulsion first off

Hi there. I have always used plaster primer on newly skimmed walls/ceilings. It looks a bit like watered down glue and it seals the plaster before painting. You can get it from most DIY shops.

The best thing to do would be to use a mat based paint for your mist coat.. watered down slightly then put 2 coats of your finish colour on top of that. :D
