We have a 3 story Edwardian house with chimney stacks either side. The one facing south takes the brunt of the weather, and we have always had slight damp issues eminating from it when the rain drives very hard in a southerly gale. A few months back I awoke in the night to very high winds and a nasty crash and crunch and slither sound!
Next morning the below had happened, not much damage to the tiles and a plastic gutter taken out, but now the scaffold is up and the house front to be painted and the damage repaired.
I am happy to have a go myself, having done many different construction and building things, albeit not to a prefessional level, but good enough for us. I've looked up Youtube videos on pebble dashing, but most seem to be mush smaller grained pebbles or chips, often much whiter in colour. Can anyone help me out with identifying the pebble aggregate shown here?
I assume I will have to carefully remove all loose pebble dash and render before re-dashing. Beyond that are there any treatments for the brickwork before rendering?
Any help is very much appreciated.
