When you say grub screws do you mean the ones under the handles ?

Then it should come off, all I can suggest is to try and work the screwdriver around the base of the tap, see if you can wiggle it free.

Hi Scott
Did you manage to get the handles off? If so, how? I am having the same issue and have not found anything helpful yet.
Thanks
Simon

I fitted the same tap when I did the kitchen .
Within 12 months one of the bars fell out of the cap which was replaced Foc.
As others have discovered getting the old one off is a challenge .
I tried all the usual tricks and more but to no avail.
Eventually got it off by hitting a wedge of wood (green)where the rod (red)screws into the cap but it needs suport (yellow)between latter and sink top to avoid bending the valve shaft
