pendant cord length

Hi

I was wondering how easy it is to shorten the length of cord from a ceiling pendant light. Is there a uniform mechanism to do this? I kind of assumed there is some kind of crimping mechanism that can be undone the cord pushed up then tightened again without messing with shortening and refixing the wires to the lightbulb holder thing.

I have a 25 year old house if that helps.

Its easier to do it in the bit attached to the ceiling.
Just unscrew it, you'll see how its done....

Don't forget to turn off the lighting circuit at the CU before you do this otherwise you will be exposing live wiring, turning off at the light switch is not sufficient.
